Far is near when you live in the
Pacific Northwest. You can live in the country for a day or more
with just a short trip. For example:
The old mining towns of Idaho’s Silver Valley
are conveniently located along Interstate-90. You can enjoy the
Sierra Silver Mine Tour from Wallace, and visit the Crystal Gold
Mine near Kellogg.
If you are a fly-fisher, or just enjoy
nature, you should visit some of the Northwest’s pristine
streams. Real old-time adventure is available in Oregon along
the Crooked River and Deschutes River, in Washington along the
Yakima, and Sol Duc Rivers, and in Idaho along the Salmon River
the Metolins River, and along Henry’s Fork of the Snake River.
For pure grandeur and diversity, the west
side of Washington’s Cascade Mountains is just amazing. Within a
three hour drive between the Cascades and the Pacific Ocean you
will find a volcanic monument, national parks, small towns,
big-city facilities, ocean beaches and quiet coves.
